Iran's main armed rebel group says 18 of its fighters have been killed and more than 40 wounded in attacks by Iranian government forces on their bases in Iraq.
The People's Mujahideen (Mujahideen-e Khalq) said Saturday that the attacks took place Thursday and Friday at their camps along the Iran-Iraq border.
There has been no comment from Tehran.
The People's Mujahideen helped to overthrow the Shah, but then fell out with the Islamic government that came to power. Many of the group's members fled to Iraq where they were given refuge and armed by Saddam Hussein. They seek to oust the current government in Tehran and replace it with their own.
The group is listed on the U.S. State Department's list of terrorist organizations.
