Iranian Resistance calls for investigation into bogus reports against the PMOI
August 09, 2007
Statement No. 2
NCRI - The National Council of Resistance of Iran warns of the terrorist objectives of the Iranian regime in disseminating false information. It calls on the French government to launch an investigation into the source and the manner in which bogus reports which linked the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran and the Iranian Resistance to possible terrorist attacks in a Luxembourg-Paris train was disseminated. The French media today described the reports as being false and wrote that last night's alert had been called off.
The main source of this utterly false and dubious report is the Iranian regime and its Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS). By spending huge sums of money in previous years, the regime has churned out false and distorted reports on terrorism, nuclear activities and the PMOI to mislead foreign countries about its own export of terrorism and nuclear program. The campaign has also sought to influence the policies of these governments vis-à-vis the regime and its opponents.
In its news program last night, French television station, TF1, broadcast a report about a terrorist threat in eastern part of France and quoted a completely false report by a "source in Luxembourg" that "The Iranians being pursued reportedly belonged to the People's Mojahedin of Iran movement, the largest Iranian opposition movement, whose headquarters is in France. Le Figaro wrote today, "One of the individuals has been identified by French officials as being close to the Iranian opposition."
Interestingly enough, TF1 reiterated that "Intelligence sources are looking at this information with great caution. They had previously received reports according to which some action was in progress aiming to destabilize the Mojahedin."
What makes this matter even more suspicious is the simultaneous publication of this bogus report by websites affiliated with the MOIS. These websites wrote last night, "France's railway network was disrupted because of a terrorist alert prompted by the pursuit of four terrorists affiliated with the PMOI." They added, "Information provided by officials in Luxembourg indicates that the four persons being sought are Iranian nationals and closely linked to the People's Mojahedin which is headquartered in France."
These ridiculous allegations against the PMOI are made while it is common knowledge that the activities of members and sympathizers of the Iranian Resistance in all countries conform with and are within the framework of the laws of those countries. European governments, particularly the French government and police, are fully cognizant of the lawful nature of the activities of the Iranian Resistance.
