Iraqi politicians: Assassination attempt against Ayad Allawi designed by Iranian regime

NCRI- Iraqi Members of Parliament as well as political figures stated that the assassination attempt against Dr. Ayad Allawi on Tuesday was masterminded by the Iranian regime.

Two people were killed and 12 injured on Tuesday when a car bomb exploded near the residence of former Prime Minister of Iraq, Dr. Ayad Allawi,

Hesam Al-Azawi, a Member of Parliament from Iraqi National Front said Tuesday, “According to our sources, the Iranian regime is trying to assassinat Dr. Ayad Allawi.”

In an interview with al-Rafedin TV, Al-Azawi added, “The information we have indicate that the Iranian regime has planned the assassination of Dr. Allawi. They have even announced it officially. The decision by the Iranian regime is based on their objectives to interfere with Iraqi affairs. Their interference in all of Iraqi affairs is clear to everyone.”

“This is neither the first nor the last time Iraqi patriots such as Dr. Allawi are targets of assassination. The reason is that he is trying to establish the rule of law and maintaine Iraqi peoples’ unity. We have demanded increased security for the area on a number of occasions and specifically have requested better protection for Dr. Allawi, but Nouri Al-Maleki’s government has not responded responsibly,” Said the Iraqi Parliamentarian.

Zia Al-Sheikhi, a member of the Iraqi National Accord said, “The Iranian regime has plans to assassinate Dr. Ayad Allawi.”

On an interview with Al-Baghdadieh TV on Tuesday, Al-Sheikhi stated, “Two weeks ago we reported to the Multi-National forces that we have discovered a plan for assassination of the leader of the Iraqi National Accord. We gave them the details of the plan.

Furthermore, we gave the details to the Iraqi government. But no action was taken. There are those who would target all the national symbols of Iraq. First and foremost, Iranian regime’s security force is trying hard to kill Dr.Ayad Allawi and has some specific plans with this regards.”

Zia Al-Sheikhi added, “The question is that how a protected area is infiltrated. And how the assassination attempt happened without the security forces knowing?”
