Iraqi Christians express support for Mojahedin of Iran

NCRI – Iraqi Christians expressed their support for the main Iranian opposition group, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI / MEK), in a large gathering on the occasion of the New Year in Ashraf City, northeast of Baghdad.

The speakers citing the situation of Iraqi Christians and the brutal atrocities against them by agents of the Iranian regime in Iraq, called for an end to the regime's meddling in that country.

Bardelian Yousef Aziz, Secretary General of the Iraqi Christian Democratic Movement, Dr. Khalid Mirza, Professor of Dental College of Baghdad University, Mufid Mikhael, from Democratic Christian Movement, Merqis Eskandar Dandu, Secretary General of Chaldeans Party, Ms. Ikhlas Mikhael, from Democratic Christian Movement, and Aamer Najm Abdullah addressed the gathering.

Over the past five years, more than 80 percent of the Christians were obliged to leave Iraq; the churches have been destroyed and in some areas like Basra the murder of Christians continue, the speakers said.

Iraqi Christians supported the call for new elections in Iraq and formation of salvation government headed by Dr. Ayad Allawi as the only way to rescue the people of Iraq.

The participants underlined their support for the PMOI as the democratic alternative to the mullahs’ regime ruling Iran.
